PROBLEM

Mineral, a moonshot startup from Google X, was looking to establish itself as an independent company and make its initial mark in the market. Their goal was to launch a website to communicate their business offerings to the public and generate leads that could lead to potential partnerships.

APPROACH

I interviewed internal stakeholders, including engineers, researchers, and AI experts, to understand the problem space. This helped me clearly define their product offerings and understand user needs.

Additionally, a competitive audit was conducted, which allowed me to identify clear and distinctive value propositions, enabling the company to increase its lead generation rate effectively.

Ideal customer lead generation funnel.

I collaborated with the sales team to generate ideal customer profiles (ICPs) and devise possible high-level routes to a lead gen capture form.

After gaining a clearer picture of the ICP and their expectations when interacting with the website, I designed the site's navigation structure as well as a component map for each page outlining the page content hierarchy.

Wireframes

Once the site's information architecture was established and the comments were identified, I designed the wireframes and outlined technical requirements.

Transitioning from wireframes to UI design presented significant challenges. Collaborating with engineering, PMs, and design leadership to finalize technical requirements necessitated a deep understanding of our go-to tech stack for websites. It also involved convincing engineers to push boundaries and go beyond their current knowledge.

UI Design

After addressing content and technical constraints, I designed the UI for Minerals website. Defining components based on post-types was crucial for a content management-based website.
